Vegan Buffalo Sliders

Vegan Buffalo Sliders that are INSANELY Delicious and ready in about 20 minutes! Perfect for Game Day or Any Day!

I love Buffalo anything! Whether it’s a Dip, a Fried Sandwich, or these Sliders, I seriously can’t get enough of Buffalo Sauce on everything!

And one of the reasons is because it’s such a flavor powerhouse, it makes anything you put on it taste good! These sliders are no exception of course! Best of all, they come together in about 20 minutes and are perfect for a party, potluck or game day gathering! Or heck, if you’re alone on a Tuesday and want them, that works too!

This recipe is quite simple with just three main components. The Dry Rub, Buffalo Sauce, and the “Meat” so let’s go over each one!

the dry rub

You can of course use a store bought dry rub or seasoning blend if you like, but I like making one at home. It’s made up of pantry staples like smoked paprika, onion and garlic powder, and cayenne of course! It’s not super spicy, but it does have a kick, so cut down on the cayenne if you don’t like things too spicy.

The Buffalo Sauce

Just like the dry rub, you can find vegan friendly Buffalo Sauce at most grocery stores, but I really like making my own. It’s super quick and easy, and you can tailor it to your tastes. Check out my Buffalo Sauce Recipe if you wanna make your own!

the vegan “Meat”

For the meat, I’m using Jackfruit! However, if you want to explore using Tofu or Mushrooms, check out my Pulled Pork recipe where I go over those options.

You can use the same technique, just season it with the Dry Rub and Buffalo Sauce from this recipe.

You can also totally make some BBQ Sliders as well if you want!

jackfruit

As always, make sure you get Young Jackfruit in water or brine and not syrup.

Drain the jackfruit, and then shred it by hand or with a potato masher. Add it to a pan over medium heat. Season it, then drench it in Buffalo Sauce. It’s that easy!

Toast your buns or rolls, then assemble with pickles, some Vegan Ranch and chives!

Follow Your Heart makes some excellent Blue Cheese Dressing and Crumbles if you can grab those, I suggest it!

how to serve / storage

You can keep the Buffalo Jackfruit warm on low and covered and then make a slider as you please if hosting a party.

You can also store leftovers in the fridge for a few days and just quickly whip one up whenever the craving hits too!

Vegan Buffalo Sliders

Ingredients
  

  • 12 slider buns or dinner rolls
  • Dill pickles
  • Chopped chives
  • Vegan Ranch
  • 2 14 oz cans of Jackfruit (about 3 – 4 cups once shredded)
  • 1/2 cup vegan buffalo sauce more to taste

Dry Rub

  • 1 Tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp cayenne
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/8 tsp citric acid optional for tang

Instructions
 

  • Make the rub by combining all the ingredients. Halve or leave out the cayenne if you don't like spicy stuff. You can also use your favorite store bought seasoning mix.
  • Drain and shred 2 (14 oz.) cans of young jackfruit in brine or water (not syrup). You can wash of the brine if you don't like the briny flavor.
  • Preheat a 12 inch skillet over medium heat. Add a little oil and then the jackfruit, stir to coat in the oil. Cook for about 3 – 4 minutes and add in the dry rub. I suggest adding in 1 Tbsp at first and tasting and adding more if you like.
  • Cook for another 2 minutes, then pour over the Vegan Buffalo Sauce, stir to combine. Taste and adjust for seasoning, adding in more Buffalo Sauce if you like. You can keep warm on low, covered if serving guests, or make all your sliders at one time.
  • Toast your rolls in a pan over medium heat. Then assemble the sliders with some dill pickles, the Buffalo Jackfruit, some Vegan Ranch and Chopped Chives and enjoy!

Notes

*Jackfruit "Chicken" – Instead of chicken we are using my good buddy jackfruit! You can also use some shredded tofu, or mushrooms if you like too. For a breakdown of that, check out my Pulled Pork recipe.
