Vegan Buffalo Dip

Vegan Buffalo Dip is surprisingly easy, cheesy and delicious! A spicy and decadent dip perfect for a Potluck or Game Day Gathering!

Buffalo Chicken Dip was one of my favorite dips of all time before going vegan, but for some reason I only ate it around the Super Bowl, but maybe that’s what made it special? Either way, it doesn’t matter since this Vegan Buffalo Dip is just as zip zapping delicious!

Make it for your next party, potluck or game day and be the snack champion!

It really is super easy to make too! You just need to combine a bunch of stuff up, bake it and get to dipping!

ingredients for vegan Buffalo dip

Jackfruit “Chicken” – Instead of chicken we are using my good buddy jackfruit. You can also use some shredded tofu, or mushrooms if you like too. For a breakdown of that, check out my Pulled Pork recipe.

As always, make sure you get Young Jackfruit in water or brine and not syrup. You can wash off the brine if you don’t like the briny taste too!

Buffalo Sauce – I highly recommend making your own Buffalo Sauce from scratch, but Frank’s makes a decent store bought version that’s vegan too!

Cream Cheese & Cheddar – You can use store-bought versions for these, or you can make some homemade Vegan Cream Cheese instead!

Fresh Herbs & Seasonings – We just need some nutritional yeast, onion powder and some fresh chopped chives.

Vegan Ranch – A lot of folks will get upset about Ranch in Buffalo stuff. They will claim Blue Cheese is the only legit dressing. Well since Vegan Blue Cheese is rare, and since Ranch goes on everything, feel free to use Ranch!

I have a homemade Ranch Recipe if you wanna make some from scratch as well.

how to make vegan Buffalo dip

Simply shred up the jackfruit, then cook and season it.

Mix the Jackfruit with all the other ingredients.

Add it to an oven safe dish and bake it. You can optionally throw some extra vegan cheese on top, just cover with foil to melt the cheese!

Then top it with some Vegan Ranch and Buffalo Sauce, maybe some chives, serve it with chips, crackers, celery and carrots and dig in!

Store in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven or microwave. You can also assemble everything the day before and then bake it right before eating. Just bake it for about 15 minutes longer, or let it come to room temperature before baking.

  • 1 14 oz can of jackfruit (about 2 cups shredded)*
  • 8 oz. vegan cream cheese
  • 8 oz. vegan cheddar shreds
  • 2/3 cup Buffalo Sauce
  • 1/3 cup Vegan Ranch
  • 2 Tbsp nutritional yeast
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 2 Tbsp chopped chives

Dry Rub

  • 1 Tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp cayenne
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/8 tsp citric acid optional for tang

  • Make the rub by combining all the ingredients. Halve or leave out the cayenne if you don't like spicy stuff. You can also use your favorite store bought seasoning mix.
  • Drain and shred 1 (14 oz.) can of young jackfruit in brine or water (not syrup). You should have about 2 cups of shredded jackfruit. You can also wash the brine of before shredding if you don't like the briny taste!
  • Preheat a 12 inch skillet over medium heat. Add a little oil and then the jackfruit, stir to coat in the oil. Cook for about 3 – 4 minutes and add in the dry rub. I suggest adding in about 1 Tbsp at first and tasting, adding more if you like.
  • Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes. Season to taste and then remove from the heat and allow to cool.
  • Preheat oven to 350 F.
  • Add the cooled jackfruit, the Vegan Cream Cheese, Cheddar Shreds, Buffalo Sauce, Ranch, Nutritional Yeast, Chopped Chives, and Onion Powder to a mixing bowl and combine everything thoroughly.
  • Add to an oven safe dish. You can sprinkle on some more vegan cheddar shreds if you like. It's optional, but if you do I recommend covering the dish with foil to help the cheese on top melt.
  • Bake for 25 – 30 minutes or until everything has melted and it's heated through.
  • Drizzle with more Ranch and Buffalo Sauce, and some chives. Serve with crackers, chips, celery and carrots and enjoy!
