VEGAN BLT
There’s no reason why Vegans can’t enjoy one of the simplest and most delicious sandwiches created, this Vegan BLT hits all those notes!

A good old fashioned BLT is one of the Summertime’s greatest treats! When tomatoes are in season, there really isn’t a better sandwich than something as simple as a BLT!
I mean heck, when Tomatoes are in season, you can just eat Tomato Sandwiches! Of course adding some Smokey and Crunchy Vegan Bacon ain’t a bad idea either!

Obviously we need some kind of Bacon! I have recipes for Rice Paper Bacon and some Tofu Bacon. Both are excellent, so I suggest making whichever appeals to you!

After the bacon, I’d say the Tomato is the next most important ingredient. When they are in season, I recommend a nice juicy Heirloom or Beefsteak Tomato.

Off season, I have the best luck with Roma Tomatoes.
For the lettuce, I recommend Iceberg or Romaine. You want something crunchy!
For the Mayo, I have an Easy Vegan Mayo recipe, as well as an Aquafaba Recipe (which is also easy). Or use your favorite store-bought vegan mayo!

Lastly for the bread, I like using either some thick cut White Bread (like Texas Toast) or some sourdough. No matter which bread you use, make sure you butter and pan-fry it!
How to make a vegan Blt
Look, there’s a lot of thoughts about the best way to assemble a BLT. Some folks don’t want the tomato touching the bread, others don’t want the tomatoes touching the bacon.

I’ve tried numerous configurations and honestly, it doesn’t matter that much to me! I would say as long as the bacon is on top so it doesn’t get buried by the tomato and lettuce, you’re good.
First butter and toast / pan-fry your bread.

Slather a healthy amount of Vegan Mayo on both slices of bread. Then layer the tomatoes (or lettuce first, your choice!) Give ’em some salt and pepper. Then the lettuce, vegan bacon, and top slice of bread.

Vegan BLT
Ingredients
- 2 Slices Bread (White, Sourdough, Wheat, etc)
- Vegan Butter
- Vegan Mayo
- 3 – 6 Slices Vegan Bacon (Tofu Bacon or Rice Paper Bacon)
- 1 – 2 Tomato Slices
- Iceberg or Romaine Lettuce
Instructions
- Spread some Vegan Butter on each slice of bread. Add to a pan over medium heat and fry until golden brown. Flip to dry toast on the other side just for a minute or so.
- Spread as much Vegan Mayo as you'd like on each slice of bread (not on the same side that you buttered and fried though, the dry toasted side). Then layer the bottom slice with tomato (don't forget to add some salt and pepper to the tomato slices), lettuce, and the vegan bacon. Cut into triangles and dig in!
