Beans on Toast
Beans on Toast can be a delightful breakfast or snack if made correctly! Just add some seasonings and it’s a hearty little meal!

Okay, I know what you’re thinking, “Beans On Toast? Gross!” or “This meal is so simple, why would you need a recipe for it?” To the former I say you are wrong, and to the latter I say you are wrong because too many folks think the former! Let me go over how I like to make Beans on Toast for even the pickiest US American!

Ingredients for beans on toast
The BEANS – First, if you can make my Homemade Heinz Beans Recipe! Otherwise you’ll want to find some Heinz Beans (or Branston is good too from what I’ve heard).

Canned Beans – If you do end up using some canned beans, you don’t wanna simply heat them up and throw them on some plain white toast. I highly suggest adding some garlic powder and onion powder at least. Curry Powder, Smoked Paprika, Nutritional Yeast, and Vegan Worcestershire are also good options!
what’s the best bread for beans on toast?
I personally love a good Sourdough! But use whatever bread you like. I will say, the cheap white bread tends to get a bit soggy for my liking, hence why I suggest something sturdier like sourdough.

How to make Beans on Toast
This couldn’t be simpler! First whip up a batch of my Homemade Heinz Beans, or if using store-bought canned beans, simply heat them up and season to your taste (I’ll give you some good options in the recipe card)
Toast your bread, I recommend sourdough! Then spread plenty of vegan butter on.
If you don’t have a toaster, you can fry the bread in a pan. Just spread some butter on it and grill it. Just make sure you grill both sides. The second side can be dry toasted, no need for butter on that.
Then simply top the toast with some beans, and whatever else you like! Maybe some grated Vegan Parmesan!

Would love for you to make the heinz beans!!!!
I’m planning on it for my Full English recipe!
Proper way? The proper way is how you want to eat it, lol. I like my homemade baked beans on buttered, thin sliced seedtastic bread with a sprinkle of shredded white cheddar. I have never tried buttered marmite toast with it as marmite isn’t usually in US grocery stores, but would be willing to try.
