Basil Mayo

Instantly upgrade your boring old mayo by making this deliciously herby BASIL MAYO! Perfect on just about any sandwich!

I recently had a sandwich from a vegan deli out here in LA called Glowing Eatery, and the thing I loved the most was the Basil Mayo they slathered it with. So of course, I had to go and make my own so I could eat it as much as possible!

In fact, I made my own version of an Italian Sandwich with it as well and I gotta say, definitely my new favorite sandwich for summer!

ingredients for Basil Mayo

  • Basil – obviously we need some basil! This recipe calls for a decent amount, so don’t bother with those little pack of like 3 sprigs. Get a nice big bunch (or pick some from the garden if you got one!)
  • Mayo – I’m using my Vegan Mayo but you can use your favorite store bought brand as well!
  • Garlic & Lemon – To brighten it up even more we’ll be adding some garlic and lemon too!

how to make Basil Mayo

This couldn’t be easier! And you have two options. You can either blitz everything up in a food processor.

Or you can use an immersion blender. I would suggest giving the basil a rough chop before to make it easier on the immersion blender.

Add to any sandwich you like!

Store in the fridge and enjoy within 4 – 5 days.

  • 1 cup Vegan Mayo
  • 3 – 4 Cloves Garlic
  • 1 Tbsp Lemon Juice
  • 1 cup Chopped Basil

Instructions
 

Food Processor Method

  • Add everything to a food processor and blitz until smooth.
  • Taste and adjust for seasoning. Store in a mason jar in the fridge for 4 – 5 days.

Immersion Blender Method

  • Add everything to a cup or glass large enough for the immersion blender. You may want to chop up the basil a bit so it's easier for the blender. Then simply blend everything until smooth.
  • Taste and adjust for seasoning. Store in a mason jar in the fridge for 4 – 5 days.
