To make a Classic Tuna Melt, simply butter your bread of choice (white, sourdough or rye work well). Make sure the butter is softened! I will cut them into 1 Tbsp portions and put it on a plate in the oven or by a window.
Add a slice of the buttered bread (butter side down) to a non-stick skillet over medium low heat. Then a slice of vegan american cheese, 1/2 - 1 cup of the vegan tuna salad, another slice of cheese on top, then the other slice of buttered bread (butter side up) and then grill over medium low heat.
Grill on medium low heat until browned (about 4 - 5 minutes, check to make sure you don't burn the bread). Flip and grill the other side until browned. You can also add a lid to the skillet to help the cheese melt.
Remove from heat once cooked to perfection. You can add some pickles and mustard if you like and enjoy!
