Classic Burger Sauce
A Great Sauce makes for a GREAT BURGER! A Classic Burger Sauce that’s also highly customizable!

Since I’ve started the Burger Dude account, I’ve made a ton of Burger Sauces. Over time, I refined and added things to my own Classic Burger Sauce recipe to reflect what I like in the sauce that can be called the King of Condiments! This truly is the Best Burger Sauce in my book!

You can totally just use some Vegan Mayonnaise, ketchup, relish and vinegar for a quick sauce, or add a few more ingredients to spice it up! I highly encourage you to experiment with it!
This sauce is Classic in the sense that it’s very much of the kind of sauce you’d find at In-N-Out, or on a Big Mac, basically a plussed up Thousand Island with more flavor!
And you can totally use it as a dip too for french fries, or Vegan Chicken Tenders!

To be honest, I usually just wing it when I make a sauce, and I rarely make it the same way twice. However, this recipe is from my Cookbook, and I’ve made it a bunch of times and it always hits the spot! That being said, feel free to leave things out, or add anything you want as well!

Ingredients for a classic burger sauce
- Vegan Mayo – This is the base of the sauce and mandatory!
- Ketchup – Not necessarily mandatory, but I can’t imagine the sauce without it. Adds some nice sweetness and, I mean, it’s ketchup! If you absolutely hate ketchup I guess leave it out, but the sauce really benefits from it!
- Mustard – I’ve made this sauce with yellow and dijon mustard and it totally works either way. You can leave out mustard too, but I usually opt for it.
- Pickle Relish – Sweet or dill relish both work. Depends on my mood, but I typically go with dill. You can also use some pickle juice if you want a smoother sauce.
- Vinegar – To balance out some of the sweeter elements and to also thin the sauce out a little. You can even use pickle brine if you wanna make it extra zippy, or hot sauce for some added kick!
- Seasonings – I almost always use some garlic and onion powder and smoked paprika. Chipotle powder for a little kick is great too! Just add a little though so you don’t overpower it!
- Worcestershire Sauce – It’s not in this recipe, but I do like adding a dash or two of some vegan Worcestershire to this sauce as well.
